WELCOME TO THE 2024/2025 SKATING SEASON!

Dear Skaters & Parents/Guardians,

The Executive Board welcomes everyone to the Norwood & District Skating Club 2024/25 Season!

The StarSkate and Senior CanSkate season begins on Monday, 16th September at 4:30pm, followed at 5:45pm by a PA Training Session and Assessments. The PA Training Session will be held both off and on-ice. Skaters for the assessments have already been contacted.

LET THE SKATING BEGIN!!

Please come out for a Pre-Season Family Fun Skate on Monday, 16th September and Wednesday, 18th from 6pm to 7:20pm! This Fun Skate is not a coached session and does not have program assistance but rather an opportunity to warm up those skating legs, speak with members of our coaching staff and the executive board. It also allows time for everyone to familiarize themselves with the entrance and exits to the ice. Family members of registered skaters are welcome on the ice on the 16th & 18th September.
To participate on the ice after this date as a parent volunteer for your child, you must speak with a coach or executive member. Parent volunteers must be registered with Skate Canada and pay the non-refundable fee of $61.70. The Skate Canada fee covers insurance for the program.

The Junior and Intermediate CanSkate season officially begins on Monday 23rd September and Wednesday 25th September. Our Junior CanSkate (PreCanSkate to Stage 1) session is for 30 minutes from 6pm, and our Intermediate CanSkate (CanSkate Stage 2-4) session begins at 6:30pm for 50 minutes.

Here are a few reminders -

  • We are a Scent Free environment
  • As per our helmet policy, all skaters up to CanSkate Stage 6 must wear a helmet
  • All skaters must wear mittens or gloves
  • Please have skaters dress warmly and in comfortable clothing that allows for movement
  • All CanSkate skaters will pick up their name badges at the Welcome Table. The Welcome Table will be located near Dressing Rooms 1 and 2.
  • Name badges are to be returned after each session to the Welcome Table

We look forward to a fun and enjoyable season of skating!

Kind regards,
Executive Board Members
