CONCUSSION AWARENESS & PRE-SEASON FAMILY FUN SKATE

Dear Skaters & Carers,

As required by the Government of Ontario, we have statutory obligations regarding Rowan's Law and Concussion Awareness. Please review with your child one of the Concussion Awareness Resources available at https://www.ontario.ca/page/rowans-law-concussion-awareness-resources . The Concussion Awareness Resources are available as age appropriate eBooklets and Videos.

Please also review the Skate Ontario Concussion Code of Conduct for Athletes and Parents/Guardians (for athletes under 18 years of age). Thttps://skateontario.org/rowans-law-concussion-information/

On your child's first night of skating, we kindly ask that you sign the 'Rowan's Law Acknowledgement Form for Athletes and Parents/Guardians'. Copies of this form will be available in the lobby or at the Welcome Table.

We hope to see you out on the ice this evening for our Pre-Season Family Fun Skate on Wednesday, 20th September from 6pm to 7:20pm!

This Fun Skate is not a coached session and does not have program assistance but rather an opportunity to warm up those skating legs, speak with members of our coaching staff and executive board also allows time to familiarize everyone with the entrance and exits to the ice. Family members of registered skaters are welcome on the ice on the 20th September.
To participate on the ice after this date as a parent volunteer for your child, you must speak with a coach or executive member. Parent volunteers must be registered with Skate Canada and pay the non-refundable fee of $58.70. The Skate Canada fee covers insurance for the program.

The CanSkate season officially begins on Monday 25th September and Wednesday 27th September. Our Junior CanSkate (PreCanSkate to Stage 2) session is for 30 minutes from 6pm, and our Senior CanSkate (CanSkate Stage 3-6) session begins at 6:30pm for 50 minutes.

Here are a few reminders -

  • We are a Scent Free environment
  • As per our helmet policy, all skaters up to CanSkate Stage 6 must wear a helmet
  • All skaters MUST wear mittens or gloves
  • Please have skaters dress warmly and in comfortable clothing that allows for movement
  • All CanSkate skaters will pick up their name badges at the Welcome Table. The Welcome Table will be located near Dressing Rooms 1 and 2.
